Katy Stubbs (b. 1992, Hong Kong) studied at the School of Visual Arts, New York (2015) and currently lives and works in London.
Her work has been exhibited in galleries in Berlin, Washington and London and featured in the British Vogue (2021), My Art Guides (2020), W Magazine (2020), FAD Magazine (2020), gallerytalk.net (2020), It’s Nice That (2019), The Art Gorgeous (2019), Horst und Edeltraut (2017) and Artforum (2016).
Based in Brixton, Stubbs predominantly works in ceramics, using the hand-made forms as a canvas for her interest in the tradition of storytelling. The socio-historical associations that this medium has, in particular with the Greek tradition, are a constant source of inspiration. Katy completed a residency at ALMA ZEVI, Venice in March-April 2019, and her first solo exhibition Price Choppers took place at ALMA ZEVI, London (UK) in October 2020. Recently, her work was included in Every Woman Biennial, London, UK (2021), the touring museum exhibition Welcome to My World: Ceramics with Narrative at the Burton in Bideford (2021), and was included in the group show, Cracked curated by Leonie Mir at Tristan Hoare, London (2021). Stubbs recently completed a residency at Palazzo Monti, Italy (November 2021).
